Whenever I do a backup I get NT Event ID 11: The driver detected a controller error on \Device\Tape0.

I went through DELL and they suggest slowing down the flow of information the controller supply to the tape device (archive python 4mmdat tape drive). This did not work.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

I have exactly the same error message. Assumed it was a dodgy Python. I don't think it is a SCSI controller card issue.

Have you done a detect on the drives recently? (Control panel, tape drives).

Also check your BE settings for the hardware.

I now backup to another server...

i had the same problem in windows 2k server. the problem is in the veritas driver itself, although only one of our servers exhibited the problem. i just went to the device manager, removed the tape drive, and then rebooted. the windows default driver was reloaded, and the error went away
