How to simulate a click in a datagrid

There is an example here

that is supposed to simulate a click in the upper lefthand corner of a datagrid in order to make the grid show no current cell. Unfortunatly the example appears to be incomplete because the function "send message" has no code to do anything.

Anyone know what is missing that will make this work?
