Hi

I recently had a problem when a publication incorrectly trimmed an ad that I had designed. What I want to do is show those cross shaped markers on a pdf to indicate the trim. Is this a feature of Quark or of Acrobat - how do you do it?

This is what I do currently:

When I make up a page in Quark I usually create the document to the specified bleed dimensions and then set the margins to the trim sizes. I then export to PDF.

Any help, much appreciated..

Go to your print option in quark and got to registration and make it centered. Now when you export/print the pdf it should have crop marks...

Excellent!! - Thanks

I'm not sure if that will work for you or not. If it doesn't... You should set your Quark document to the finished trim size of your piece. Then pull all bleeds 1/8 inch off the edge of the document. This is the standard way to set up documents for printing. The reason being that quark uses your document size to place cut marks when you turn registration on for printing. It sounds like the way you have it set up now, Quark will place cut marks at the edge of your bleed, not where it should trim.
Then print your document to a postscript file with a sheet selected that is larger than your document with registration and bleed turned on. This will "float" your ad in the middle of a page with cut marks.
