we have a legend R6 with 20 centranet lines and a Amanda@work R6. Most of the lines are pooled to pool #70 and 891, and others are dedicated to individual fax lines. There are two operators: 100 and 142.

All users are put in cover group 30 and have their own boxes. all stations' group coverers are #770 which is the voice mail.

The problem we have is that when people calls in, it will ring 4 times before the AA picks up, then once the caller enters the ext., it rings 4 times again to see if anyone there, then VM picks up. The wait time is just too long.

We would like to shorten the number of rings to 1 or 2 in both cases if possible, please help!

Extension group cover delay will fix vm coverage for individual extensions. However you have to change each extension and the ring time affects internal and external calls.

I have not heard of a centranet line. I have heard of a centrex line. Are these loop start lines?

Thank you for responding. The lines are centrex lines.

Can you give me a step-by-step example? Also, will this shorten the incoming rings?

Goto console >Menu>start>sys programming>extensions>cover delay>group cover (or something like that.) Adjust the rings. Do it for each extension. But I do not believe that you would need to do that. Instead you should put Do Not Disturb buttons on phones with VM coverage and train them how and when to use them.

Pretty simple stuff really. Light on for immediate vm coverage and light off when you want the phone to ring.

It is apparent that the delay ringing for the external lines was designed to allow for the calls to be answered by someone then cover to AA afer four rings.

It sounds like you would like to change that to have AA pick up immediately 24/7. So far so good?

O.K. Now that I have re-read your writing I see that you have two operators and want to give them only one or two rings to answer a call?? What kind of place is this?

Originally we have operator to cover, but it is no longer the case. What should I do to have the incoming calls ring directly to AA?

Can you set up a "send to voice" button /option on a Meridian 1 Option 61c software release 23.37? Or what would be the alternative to screening calls?
