Hi All

I have a distribution group, and i want to have an auto reply generated whenever someone sends an email to that distribution group. How do i go about this?

I have tried creating a custom auto reply rule but this seems to be a client side rule, and i need outlook running in order for this to trigger.

Is there anyway of having an auto reply through a server side rule for a specific distribution group?

Thanks!!!

I haven't seen a way yet that works well with a DL. I've got a ton that work just fine on a PF, but not a DL.

I would setup the main address of the DL as a user account in AD. Then set that user account to automatically forward all incoming mail to the DL.

So, if the DL is distlist@domain.com, setup a user in AD with distlist@domain.com as their email addy. Login to an Outlook profile for that user and setup the server side autoresponder rule. In AD, change the settings for the distlist@domain.com user to automatically fwd to the real dist list, maybe distlist_hidden@domain.com.

Voila!

Anyways, it is a work around, but it should work.

lifegard2, that's not a bad little solution. I think that would work. I'll color you purple for that one [purpleface]
