Dear all,

My setup is :
A Cognos server in LAN.(no IIS)
A IIS Web server in DMZ

Is there any document outlining the steps of setting up in the above setup? In the advanced planning PDF, it just describe the concept, and I am a bit confused on what different settings I need to make, compare to a single machine setup (Cognos + IIS on 1 machine).

Many thanks!

If this is Series 7, then all you would have to do is open Configuration Manager, go to the Server configuration tab and then set the dispatcher to be your Cognos server. On the Cognos, open Cing Man and point you dateway to the IIS server.

If this for Series 7, then let me know.

Thanks. Yes, I am using Series 7.
And I guess I have to release all the default ports (in installation guide) so the WEB can talk to Application server?

Thanks.

In the planning advanced installations guide you can find several scenarios to execute distributed installtions in conjunctions with firewalls/ external webservers. This document should come with the software on the CD otherwise you can download it from support.cognos.com

Anyway you have to install the Cognos GATEWAYS in the same server where you web server is installed.
So Upfront gateway , PPES gateway in the IIS server.

Then in the other server, you can have Upfront dispatcher , Upfront datastore, PPES dispatcher , PPES query and Processor.

Dear buddy,

Thank you. I guess I understand more now after reading you guys suggestion. Many thanks.
