Hi all,

How to setup a recovery standby server if my production exchange server was fail, anyone can provide the procedure for setup ?

Thanks you very much.

Hi there,

If this is Exchange 2000 there are a couple of things you need to do:
This is a quick outline.
1.Take a full backup of your existing EX2k machine,(System State backup essential also).

2.On the existing LAN,build a new member server and dcpromo it.Allow AD to replicate to it.

3.Disconnect this new DC from your existing network and put on a private LAN.

4.For the new exchange standby server you will need to just build a Win2k server(in a workgroup). You will need to install exchange with the /disaster recovery switch. You will need to restore the winnt directory and the system state from the original Exchange server. This will update all domain info for the server. You may need to check disk/partition status after that, check Ip configuration and then you should be able to start restoring th Exhange databases and test.

It is a fairly complex process and requires good research, don't just use what I have given here, although it is right, there are various helps on the web that give more detail, this just gives you a general overview.
