How to setup a ISDN router w/2000 server and have internet work

Here is the setup I have: Win2000 server running active directory, dns, and DHCP distributing IP's to the client machines.

So far everyone can log in and share resourses, but I have no idea how to set up the router and get everyone on the internet. Its a Cisco ISDN router, going into two dell switches which are connected to all the clients.

Any help appreciated...I am just learning at this stuff so simple instructions preferred...Thanks

It's really simple, the machines that need to see the internet need their Gateway IP address set to the router's internal IP address. Also their DNS address needs to be set either to the Router's internal address or an External DNS server such as your ISP.

If your reaction is Uhh? Then read on.

You may want to make sure that you are not going to get charged by the minute on the ISDN... because it can get expensive. Some ISDN packages offer so many minutes then you are billed by the minute after that. I'm going to assume that you have unlimited access.

First find out what the router's IP is and what your ISP's DNS server IP is.

Open the DHCP console on the server under Programs -> Administrative Tools -> DHCP. Expand the server, expand the scope, right click on Scope Options, click Configure Options, click on Router, enter the router's IP. Scroll down and find DNS Servers, click on it and Add your ISP's DNS address. Click OK. Reboot a workstation and try the Internet.

Now this should take care of what you need. But if end up getting HTTP errors and no Internet on the client machines then you have DNS issues. That can be fixed too, but try the above first.
