Hi can someone please give me the best advice on how to setup a cable modem router to my Cisco 7200 router. Basically I want to run a ethernet cable from the Time Warner Cable Modem Router to a port on my 7200 router. Whats the best way of setting this up with VLAN or Access-List and also I only want a certain number of PC's on a subnet to use this gateway to internet. Please can someone advice me on the best solution. Thank you.

How to setup a cable modem to your Cisco 7200 router

Where to start?
You need to configure outside (modem facing) and inside (LAN facing) interfaces. The outside interface will have the provider's public IP address and the inside will have whatever default gateway address you assign it. IE 172.23.16.1/192.168.2.1/etc.. Enable both interfaces and you are rolling.
Enable IP routing and add a default route out to the internet so that traffic can get outside. Configure some ACL's to allow/block the traffic you want. You can also configure DHCP on the router as well if you dont have another machine handling DHCP.
Great article for relative beginners which will help you understand the basics. Somethings aren't covered but you should be able to get started.

Ok I have my Cisco 7200 router and i want to confgure interface FastEthernet0/2 to connect to my Linksys RVL200 router which my cable modem from Timer Warner will be plugged to Linksys Router. How do i go about configuring it so that I can only have a certain amount of users from one subnet 10.156.138.x use that internet route. Please someone help. Thank you.
