How to setup 3 monitor workstation? 1

I currently have a 2 monitor workstation setup using the nVidia GeForce 5500 card. I wanted to add a 3rd monitor though and I'm not sure how to do it. Can I somehow use the factory installed video card to get this working, or do I need a new video card?

There's two ways to do it:

1) roll the dice, add a pci video card and hope everything is compatible.

2) get a Matrox MMS card with support of 4 monitors on one card. Can possibly find these on eBay for not that much cash.
