How to set up the wireless network?

Hi anyone...
Have a question for you.

My body and I decided that we need a network.
We live about 0.25 miles from each other, in the city.

I have a home Lan, Router and DSL modem, so it would be nice to get him connected.

Question:
Is it possible to set up a wireless network between us?
Wired network is out of questions..I guess.
The main problem - the distance...as i understand..
So, has anybody done that before? What hardware did you use?
What protocol? i would like to go with all this 802a,b..stuff..

I think I would have to use repeaters..what company? and all?

Any suggestions and advices will be greatly appreciated..

Have your buddy sign up for DSL or cable broadband, and then use a VPN connection.

If you both have more recent versions of Windows, this will essentially be free for both of you.

It would cost significant amounts of money to create the link you suggest. It would never be cost effective. He can create a VPN link through dial-up don't forget, it is just slow.
