I have trying to figure out how to set up access to my voicemail(built in) but I can't find how to do it. I have read some posts that say ** should get to voicemail when calling number externally but doesn't work for me. I have tried **, *7, #, when voicemail comes on but they don't do anything. I assume I need to set up a shortcode of some sort. Can someone point me in the right direction. Would appreciate it. Thanks

You have two options for remote voicemail collect you can do it through an auto attendant or you can do it as a DTMF breakout from an extension's voicemail.

1) Auto Attendant
Set a selector to transfer to *17
Caller calls AA, hits selector, it will ask for extension# and password#

2) DTMF breakout
Go to user, voicemail, and choose 0 2 or 3 and enter *17
Caller calls in, hits this user's voicemail, hits 0 2 or 3 (whatever you configured) and it will ask for extension# password#

You MUST have a voicemail password set to do remote voicemail collect. If you have no password the system will say this user is not setup for remote access (or something similar).

The truth is just an excuse for lack of imagination.
