I have to set up a PRI on a Magix with DID service and need to strip all 4 incoming digits and replace them with 4 digits that match the users ext # due to the DID's being different than the dial plan. I have the Dial Plan Routing forms and it looks like I can only do 16 entries. Is that correct? And what do I use for Service? The switch type is a DMS-100.I am assuming that if my DID is xxx xxx-1234 and I want it to go to x4321 then in pattern to match I enter 1234 and delete 4 digits and add 4321? Am I heading in the right direction?? Thanks in advance!!!

What you are saying is correct - 16 Patterns - Strip what you don't want, substute what you do.

The problems arise when/BECAUSE the people selling these services have no clue as to how the Legend/Magix can use them, AND - they couldn't care less about providing SEQUENTIAL D-I-D numbers.

Other posts to this board talk about Sequential vs Non-Sequential D-I-D,s.

Sequential is better.

Good luck.....

If you don't like the number blocks they assigned, reject them. Tell the provider they are not compatible. Give them the ranges that are workable for your dial plan. If they balk at your request or tell you there are no more, tell them they can order more numbers from NANPA or pick another provider that will provide the SEQUENTIAL number ranges you want. It really pays if you plan ahead and order extra DIDs so they are available when your customer needs them. Also you should specify the ranges you need when you place the service order. This makes it easier for the service provider to know what you want upfront. This way they don't just throw any old block at you.

Years ago providers would only provision DID numbers in 100 number blocks. Now they seem to be all over the map! The TCA of 1996 did not help the situation with the Area Code crunches we have had over the last ten years.

Hope this helps!

I have had similar issues come up when working with DNIS on the Legen/Magix. One way I was able to work around this was to have the PROVIDER manipulate the DNIS digits at their switch before sending them to Legend system.
For example a DID number of 972-555-0987 (sending either 3 or 4 digits) will likely not work on a Legend, so I ask the carrier to send different digits, like 101.
Not sure if your carrier will do that, but we have several up here that have done that for me (with a little arm twisting)

The problem is these things need planning BEFORE THE SALE.

The person selling the SERVICE has no clue as to what the LEGEND/MAGIX can do, and usually they have no clue as to what their Central Office can do either.

That's why there are CONSULTANTS to help figure this stuff out before these cuts so things work the way they should.

Thank you all for the advice- They ended up only using 1 DID and pointing it to a calling group for Auto Attd. I appreciate all of your input!!!!
