Is there a way to set the IP address on one of these without using the management software?

And if I did manage to set its IP address, would it do me any good if I didn't have the management software?

one thought comes to mind call someone who know what they are doing !!

Let's put it another way. If you set the IP address of a CTI card, what would you do with it?

Thank you, cwc3. I have noticed that willingness to share knowledge is one of the characteristics of a good technician.

LkEErie, my customer's IT consultant and I would like to do basic system administration remotely. I'm aware that much more can be done, but that's all we're interested in at the moment.

Circular logic. Remote admin requires the Maintenance console which is used to set up the CTI card which requires the Maintenance Console.......

I used a PC in front of the PBX linked to the network, logmein.com, the TDA via a USB cable, and the TVA via network. It also captures the serial data off the PBX for the call accounting reports that are sent to the network.
It also needs both the Maintenance console and TVA maintenance software to work...and the customer knows it.
He still calls me to fix his stuff and I have access to his entire network and he knows that.

So, the answer to your original question is the same, No and what can you do with it?

and if one read the book they'd know that there is a default
ip address :)

Touche, cwc3, and thanks for the tip. I've read the book -- well, skimmed it -- but missed the bit about the default IP address.

i'll bet if you virtualy stuffed a cabinet with maint console you'd find out what it is easy enough.....

it's vvv.xxx.y.z and I have helped more tech in need in this spot than any other I just don't like techs with tudes!!!

The answer: 192.168.0.1 (Big surprise, huh? Should have tried that before asking here.)

I find supplying this more satisfying than getting into a pissing contest. That's my attitude; have fun with yours.

must be nice being the worlds smartest uber tech thanks hope you really screw things up on your new toy!!
