Wow - not sure you could be LESS specific/verbose in asking that question. Help us to help you by being explicit. Do you perhaps mean when viewing files in folders?
Go into a folder with individual files. Using the little drop down menu, change it to DETAILS or LIST view. Then to make all folders the same:
Locate and open the folder that has the view setting that you want to use for all folders.
On the Tools menu, click Folder Options.
On the View tab, click Apply to All Folders.
Click Yes, and then click OK.

Don't know what you mean Andrzejek??? No MY COMPUTER in Win 7!!!
I never use those fancy keyboard shortcuts.
But I thought he meant how the files are listed inside a folder view.

Since the OP did not mention what OS is used, I added My Computer.
I do help many users around here and every one of them has his/her own computer set up, so I do use all those ‘fancy keyboard shortcuts’ because, fortunately, all keyboards here are the same, well, close enough. And more often than not users jump and ask me: “How did you do it?” when I user Windows key. It is there, why ignore it?
Have fun.

A bus station is where a bus stops. A train station is where a train stops. On my desk, I have a work station.
Yes, thanks.
I have dyslexia and it makes it difficult for me to do some things - I also have some problem "comprehending" the exact meaning of words/phrases - for example: "Windows Explorer", I don't recognize it right away. It is really what should have been called "File Manager" (such as used in Apple) - the word "Explorer" makes me think of Internet Explorer, so that throws me off.
I don't know about that - and there are different "shades" of dyslexia. I have no problem with fonts.
What caused me a lot of trouble in school, was I would tend to speed-read pages, glancing at entire page and missing a lot of detail in the wording because of that.
But looking at engineering drawings now, I think I can look at an entire sheet and mentally "comprehend" the entire sheet better than average - and I have a knack for picking out errors accurately.
My problems with reading books has gotten worse with age, and in fact I intensely dislike reading books, etc, for that reason.
