How to set gateway on a Pix? 1

Hello,

I am replacing a firewall with the following NIC settings.

IP Address: x.x.86.213
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.240
Default Gateway : x.x.86.209

Inside nic
10.10.1.1
255.255.255.0

So I added the following, not sure about the subnet (240)

ip address outside xxx.xxx.86.213 255.255.255.240

how can i specify a gateway?

just a guess?

route inside xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx 255.255.255.0 xxx.xxx.86.209

For the default gateway, you can learn it via RIP or OSPF or you can do a static route.

An example is "route outside 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx".

Replace the xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx with the IP of your internet router.

Thank You! That did the trick, I was able to connect for testing, and I got the the internet. Next I want to set up a VPN from my client, to the Pix. Thanks, You are a Pix wizard
