We have several clients with HP scanners, some as small as 4700 and some up to 9500 models. All use Acrobat 5 or 6. Picking "import" from version 5 or "create pdf" from version 6 opens scanner software, usually PrecisionPro or WIA Scanjet interface. This interface always defaults to max resolution or "color picture" when we want it to default to black & white text. Have looked in Adobe versions, HP scanner utils and all .ini files that we could find but nothing seems to hold this setting. Even trying "custom settings" and a low resolution with black & white text still defaults back to color on next scan. Thanks for any help, Ken

Did you find a solution? I'm having the same problem. I just purchased an OfficeJet 6110 with a sheet feeder and the software stinks. HP's software will automatically create a PDF file of decent size but gives you no option to scan two sided documents. It also contains a memory leak so I have to reboot my computer after a couple of scans.

Thanks in advance for any help.
