how to set apache password

im trying to set a password and user name to my apache server, but i dont get it, any one who set this configuration please can send me an explication to set my apache server please, i'll appreciate the help, thanx . i really need this, im using Apache/1.3.33 (Win32) PHP/4.4.6 and mysql 3.23.49. good bless php

Maybe he wants something like "HTTP authentication with PHP". I tried it once, for about 10 minutes... no success. I think my perseverance was proportional with the importance of the subject...

In addition to the like suggested by jpadie you could also read "Authentication, Authorization and Access Control".
