Howdy All! . . .

In MS Word I can set a color in a graphic to be used as transparent. The graphic is copied and pasted into Access forms. A property of the pasted object lets me select Transparent where upon the the color above shows clear (as if it were invisible.

Is it possible to set a color for transparent use in Photo Paint?

Yes and no. You dont select a transparent color - but you remove the background. Depending on which version you are using, there are various ways to accomplish this. The easiest way is to mask the object, only the parts you want to show, Go to Object -> Create -> Object: Copy Selection (or cut selection if you want to destroy the original image). This makes a "floating" object of what you just masked. It will appear that nothing has happend when you do this, but if you click on the item and drag it around, you will see it is a copy of only the parts that were masked. This can be set on a "transparent" background by either deleting the original image completely, and you will see a checkerboard background (assuming you have no fill set for the background) or copying the new object (CTRL +C) and going to File -> New From Clipboard. Assuming your object is not square, you should see a checkerboard background (again, assuming no background fill color is selected). If you keep seeing a white background (the default background color) it might be easiest to go to File -> New and create a new layout. Be sure there is a check in the "No Background" box. The easiest would be to copy your "cutout" object into this new layout. There are other ways, but wihtout knowing which version you are using, there may be some missing tools or incorrect steps to try and talk you through. Let us know if you ahve any other questions.

attrofy . . .

Thanks for the reply!

AceMan is Access Database Programmer. I won't be able to check this out until the weekend (prior engagements).

The reason I need this is that several companies I consult for have asked to display a notice if certain areas of a db are accessed by any user . . . along with their logo. Its the background of the logo that needs to be transparent (quite impressive logo's at that!)

Until then I'm using an oldie PhotoPaint Version 6.00.170

In much appreciation:
