Hi

because some of our clients can only read text based emails we are trying to send the data to them in a monospaced font like courier. however when sent using outlook 2000 automation the text gets converted to arial and is no longer aligned correctly. have tried setting the mail format settings in outlook but this has not helped.

many thanks colin

Hi Colin,

If you are sending the message in plain text, you have no control over the fonts that the recipient sees. Contrary to what you suggested, the text does not get converted to Arial. The font that the recipient sees will depend on the settings of their email client.

If you want to be sure that the recipient sees the message in the font that you stipulate, you have to send the message as HTML or Rich Text. But if you did that, your recipients presumably wouldn't be able to read it at all, given they have text-based email (depending on what exactly you mean by "text-based email").

Mike

Hi Mike,

thanks for your speedy reply. when our program send an email and i check the sent items folder in outlook the text is not monospaced, and therefore any columns of data appears mis-aligned. sending emails in HTML format could be an answer but then the problem is printing the email because it leaves a gap on the left hand side of the paper.

many thanks colin
