Hey I am kinda new in this field. I am using crystal reports report application server. I wanted to know if we can send parameters through the web to view a report (rpt file). Like when the client wants to view the report over the web he should be prompted asking the value of a parameter.

The short answer is yes. Since you are using Crystal Enterprise, you have two options: Use an unmanaged URL call, or use CSP pages to create a managed URL call. Most examples I've seen here refer people to the unmanaged approach. Download the following pdf from Crystal for more info on that approach:

CSP is pretty involved, but provides greater control and generally allows you to hide more things from the end user (such as database passwords, etc.). You can search the crystal kb for "CSP Sample" to locate some sample apps to get you started.
