I would like to create log file of files uploaded and files downloaded from the system with their time and date stamp.

I prefer to have the data to be fed to MS-ACCESS database .

Can anyone help me out ....

You will want to use the various DDE ASPECT commands for this. Take a look in the ASPECT help file for the discussion of the ddeadvise command (it has an example script). Also take a look in the \Samples\ASPECT\DDE directory on your Procomm CD. There are two examples there as well (although I think they are basically the same script).

All of the example scripts mentioned above interface with Excel, but you should be able to use DDE to transfer data to and from Access, you will just need to find the correct DDE parameters that Access supports.

MS Access had the ability to link a formatted text file as a database. This will probably be your easiest method of writing lots of records into Access.

Collect your data records into an appended text file with the records delimited by a comma or semicolon. Alternately, if the system creates its own log string, you can append these records into a text file and use the fixed width import option in Access.

To create the link, once you have a text file captured by Aspect, use File/Get External Data/Link File in MS Access, selecting the text option. This will create a mapped link to your Aspect captured log file.

If you want to create a native Access table with the data, set up a "Make table" or "Append Query" using the linked file as the source data. You can then delete the text file using Access VBA or Aspect scripting. When the file is recreated by the Fopen command in Aspect, the link will still be defined in Access for importing new data.
