Dear Anybody,

I have an Invoiced file that should look into the text field upon entering the data. But instead of encoding, I'm using the scanner to scan the barcode. What would I do so that my file will look into that data and Seek the field so that my form will be refreshed? What method would I use?

Thank you?

Barcodes are typically read into a PC using a Keyboard wedge. In this manner, the input is no different than if the user had typed in the individual characters.

The barcode is received "in total" as a complete character string.

In order to test this you can go into the VFP development mode (or into M$ Notepad) or any other application which will display typed in data. Then, when you scan the barcode, the character string should be displayed into the test application for you to read.

All unique Barcode symbology "encoding" should be stripped off within the reader itself during the READ and only the resultant characters are passed into the PC.

With the input working in that manner, you can either use a Text Box to "collect" the data or some other routine.

Once you have the data input in a Text Box, you can then use it in a VALID method to "look" into the data table for the specific field desired.

Good Luck,
