I would like to add another field name to a text. How can I do that? What can I do to see the source of the field within an existing text?

I am new to 8.5, so please be patient with me.

Thanks.

I don't believe this is possible in 8.5 or any other. I know you can put in the group or record select formulas, but not the actual field names. And I would wonder why you would want to do that anyways. Field names are generally confusing to end users? But in any event, I don' think this is possible, unless you hand typed all the text boxes.

When you drop a field into the detail section, a column header should appear, if not named with an alias, that would have the field name in it. Would that work?

Thanks so much!

Have you tried doing it in the SQL statment?

dbfield AS myfield

I think what you mean is that you put a text box (with text) within a section of the report, and within the text box you want to put a field name?

In that case then you select the fieldname within the text box and with the right mouse button you can go to format field.

Indeed when you want a table to have another name you can do this by Database-->Set Alias, select the table and rename it.
