I'd like to see realtime performance of my tape drive devices (/dev/rmt0, rmt1, etc) as i perform restores. How would I display this info? Iostat doesn't seem to work on tape devices.. I'd love to see it in KBps or Kbps.

Thx!

Hi,

As of AIX5 you can use "iostat -a" option that will show the total scsi adapter performance.
So assuming your tapes is a scsi ones and they are the only scsi devices on an adapter - this will give you what you are looking for.

Long live king Moshiach !

Doesn't help.. I have multiple scsi adapters in this server and none show up except the integrated (scsi0) when I do an iostat -a..

perhaps you can have an idea looking at your disk performance while executing a tar on this tape. if you have a stand-by disk without any activity is better of course.

bye.
