Greetings to the forum! My question is regarding securing switchboard items at a user level. Is this something that can be done? I have incorporated a login screen that loads at the opening of the database.

The ideal situation would be to have the switchboard items display or not display based on the fields in the employee table where the following are stored:

employee id
employee name
employee password
employee user level

It would be greatly appreciated if anyone can help?

There will be a very small number of users that will need to be able to use most of the functionality (max 6 people) and a much larger number (up to 50 people) that will need inquiry access only.

Your input and guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Not sure if this will help. I had to do something similar in a database I built about a year ago, so I may miss some details. I remember having trouble customizing the code in the switchboard provided by access through some sort of wizard. What I did was made my own switchboard, which was just a form with buttons to load other forms etc. When the "switchboard" loaded I had some code look at the user that loaded it. The code made certain buttons invisible and visible depending on the user.

If you do this you will have to add a password when the db is loaded so you can lock people out of the underlying tables, design view of forms etc.

Thanks very much for the above. Is there any chance that you have a copy of the database that you did this in and are willing to share it?

Again, thanks for taking the time to respond. It is appreciated.

Sorry, I definitely don't have that, it belongs to the company I built it for.

Just a note: 50 people sounds like an awful lot for an access database.

Thanks for your response. Understood. Again apprecaite your time.
