how to secure network and allow public wifi.

situation:

my customer wants to provide public access to his internet. He has a 2wire wireless modem, office computers and the wireless is secure.

I would like to add a wireless router to this router to provide a unsecured WAP but not on the same IP range so as not to have access to the office computers.

I purchased a 29.00 belkin 150n router and put it in wireless access point but it is still on te same network scheme and I can access the other computers.

I started typing out a detailed reply to your question. The more I thought about your situation, I realized I am not entirely sure why they are seeing your entire network either, at least as how I envision you would have implemented this.

I am guessing that what is happening is that you have placed the (public) wireless router on one of the LAN ports of the modem and traffic is passing across the bridge in the modem.

Would it be possible for you to attach a sketch of your topology, showing the modem, routers, and any switches (indicate whether or not you can assign a VLAN in them)?

Off hand, I am thinking you will want to provide a firewall of some form on the input to your non public LAN.
