I have been asked by our legal department to locate all messages in our Exchange 5.5 e-mail system that were sent to a particular e-mail address. Is there a utility that can do this for me? I cannot use Exmerge because with this utility I can only search by subject or attachment name and I don't know what the subject is for the messages that I need to locate. I have searched on the IMC for inbound and outbound messages but I need to perform a more thorough search than that if possible. Any suggestions? We have 1000 users so I am not about to go into each mailbox and perform a manual search.

I had to do the same thing..
luckily, I always set up maximum diagnostics with inbound and outbound email...
Anyway, they gave me the time period to look for, I used file search to search throuh the IMC/in and out directories and gave them text files of all the emails...
by the way I erase the imc data every month.. I had to reload the info from backup...
