How to scan into Photoshop?

(Not really a programmer! Using friend's identity.)
I have Photoshop 5 on Windows 2000 and my scanner is an HP ScanJet 4200c.
I want to scan straight into Photoshop, but it will only let me use the scanner software. I have checked that there is a twain module (twain_32.8ba)in Photoshop's Import-Export folder. I followed instructions from Vis. Quickstart Guide, which were File>Import>Select Twain 32 Source> then selected the scanner. But when I then try to scan by selecting Import>Twain_32 it just opens the HP scanner software. How do I get the Photoshop software to control the scanning?

Dont install the scanners software only the driver and then do the same thing you did in PS.
