Is there any possibility to achieve that somehow ? When file is browsed in WordPerfect ( version 9 for Windows ) it looks a table but this layout is achieved purely with the tabs which size may vary as well.
Any hint on programmatic or built-in solution is highly appreciated.
My final aim to convert to XML , so any solution( or hint ) allowing to identify those pseudo-cells without intermediate ASCII format suits me perfectly.

Thank you.
Michael

Saving the file in ASCII strips all formatting out of the document. Tabs are converted to spaces based on the the type of font that you had. The best way to maintain the spacing is to use a fixed pitch font such as Courier. When the document is converted to ASCII, the spacing should remain consistent. Another thing to consider is setting all justification to left and looking at margin settings. When saving out to ASCII, WordPerfect will add spaces for the left margin. This may or may not be desirable.

There are no equivalents in ASCII for things such as fonts, underline, bold, etc.

Hope this helps!
