How to save a huge Sent folder then clear it - Linux

Linux email server. I am a newbie for Linux email, know just enough to get in and look at files on the server.
We have a user with a Sent folder that has over 38K messages and the user cannot open mailbox in Outlook. Sent file size is 6768497750.
Looking for a way to preserve the sent data (copy the file?) then clear it so Outlook can access the mailbox.
TIA for any help you can provide.
