HI all,

I was wondering what does it mean to run a catalog job? and how do I do it. Well,

I am trying to run a catalog job to restore this backup info from the year 2002. WHen I run the catalog job, it ask for another media. WHy is that? is there is any documentation on how to go about this? or is this the right job to do so?

Ok, appreciate your help on this.

Okay, you can't do a restore unless BE knows what's on the tape. It finds out what's on the tape when you CATALOG it. Now it knows what dates and what files are on the tape. Apparently in your case, the backup ran over onto a second tape. It can't finish the catalog because it doesn't have all the tapes.

If the job initially is asking for different media, then Veritas thinks different media is in the drive. You will want to insert the media you want to restore from into the drive, then inventory the drive so that Veritas knows what media is in the drive. Then run the catalog job.
