I use a utility called shc ( to encrypt a perl script by creating an executable by putting a C wrapper around the script.

The encrypted executable runs fine from the command line, however I am unable to get it to run through the apache server in cgi-bin (Internal Server Error).

Is there a change I can make to my httpd.conf to make it work?

no I just don't want the server code to be visibly available to anybody with access to the server.

So you trust someone enough to give them access to the server code, but you don't trust them enough to see the code?

If you are getting an Internal Server Error it is more than likely that the wrapper is displacing the shebang. If it is not the first line of the script, you will get that or premature end of script errors.
