You need the proper CODEC's to allow video to be played. Most player software includes the necessary CODEC's for this. Even DVD drives require a CODEC decoder if the drive is not equipped with a hardware decoder.
i can't understand. What I have is a movie ( Ben Hur, in case you'd like to know ) on a set of 3 CDs. Presumably it will play on a CD player of which I know nothing as I only have a computer. How to get it to play on my PC?

Seen it but still can't follow. Which are the comopressed files in the above list and which is the appropriate codec for it? Other aspects that are unlclear are:
o into what softweare must it be installed
o there is no executable file so how is the movie to be started
Thanks so much Freestone. Just the site I nedded. Does one give *s for references? Actually I'm quite confused about this forum's * scheme. Does one give one for replies that one thinks might be useful to others or just for oneself. In the latter case a reply might get a * even if the reply was just a simple one if the original poster was a crass novice!
From what i understand you give someone a star if they solved your problem or pointed you to the information you needed that solved your problem or pointed you to the info you needed to go ahead and do the job yourself. Its basically if you think its warranted. I dont think there are any hard and fast rules but stars should be given for real help.
