Dear all
Just want to ask if there is any command that will fast forward to the last end session of a dlt tape?
Every day i got to type this command "tctl -f /dev/rmt1.1 fsf 18" where 18 is the number of session i want to fast forward, i want to see if this can be automated!

Thx alot

Jack

Yes ..you can script it...That is the way of automation at this point.

first a question, how do you know how many sessions? if it is always 18 then that is easy, otherwise where is that number coming from? i don't use tctl myself.

write a line that reads the number into a variable then one line which uses that variable in the command.

The number of session will not always be the same, so i was looking for a way that will automatically roll to the very last session of the tape!
can you please kindly give me a example scirpt?

Thx alot
