Hello,

I need to revise those tables based on a table in excel. for example all tables have 3 columns of car's name, car's year, and car's price. but I have a reference table (2 columns) in excel that says some cars have a wrong name. In other words, for example the reference table in excel says, Benz should be change with BMW and Hyundai should be change with Honda.

More explanation: I have a lot of Word documents inside a folder that I need to do the process for all of them, but if working on all files in the folder is a different topic for you, please ignore that, I'm fine with revising only 1 Word document. However, the Word document is a kind of report which includes a lot of paragraphs and lines and a few tables (the number of tables could be anything). Although tables have 3 columns, I only care about updating one of the columns (for example Car Name). Please find the attached file to see what I meant by tables.

Important: Note that in the Word tables we don't see a pure car name, for example we see Benz L9000C or Hyundai Accent 2014. but in the reference table in excel we see pure car names (with no suffix and prefix).

Thank you.

Hi,

Its odd that you'd have a single column with make and model.

Further I'd assume that your source data in Excel includes make, model, year and price.

It would actually be beneficial to post an example of a table in Word and the source table in Excel (cut 'n' paste)

BTW, welcome to Tek-Tips. I grew up in the Keystone State.

I've coded a VBA solution, but I need your table structures. Is the the only table in Word? If not, which table?

What is the sheet name that contains the table in Excel. Again I need the table structure.

Nice to here you SkipVought! I'm living in Bucks. Sorry if my explanation wasn't clear enough. Paul Edstein,

Thank you for the information. Do I have to remove my question from here?

As per the Tek-Tips policy I referred you to, the fate of this thread is in the hands of the Tek-Tips management. In the meantime, how about just showing a little respect for the cross-posting etiquette ( on every forum you've cross-posted on? You've an appalling record of ignoring it (and various forums' rules on the subject) so far. You might start by doing the right thing and posting links at vbforums.com to all your cross-posts, where you have yet to inform them of even one cross-post.

You should also be aware that people who get a reputation for cross-posting soon find that no-one is interested in responding to their posts.

Cheers

You've got to do what Paul suggests.

I have a solution as I stated, that puts the price from an Excel table into a Word table given one or more arguments such as make, model, year.

I'm interested in "a lot of Word documents" wondering about the process. I'd be apt to put it all in Excel: the source tables and the report(s). It might simplify things.

But FIRST straighten out your cross postings and then post back letting us know how we should proceed in light of your posting choice.

BTW, grew up in the adjacent county, Montgomery. Been in Doylestown jail. ;-) Many decades ago, in the 1950's, my church conducted services there and I went with them. (Just threw that in for no extra charge)

I'm sorry about that, I though the Cross-posted policy is only related to one forum not different forums in different websites. So, is there a way to keep one and delete the rest? I asked some of them to delete my question but some of them had no a tap to put my request. Please let me know if you can help me out. Thank you.

As Paul suggested, post this link at vbforums.com, and then post back verifying your resolution. Then we will proceed.

SkipVought,

Did you open the attached file, if so, please forget the price and look at my example in the excel file. I just want to change the car names. I attached the file here again. Thanks man!

Sorry I'm a little bit weak in understanding some terminologies. Could you please tell me what do you mean by "post this link"? you mean the bellow link:

If so, where should I put it? In the reply portion?

However, I replaced this link with my question in VBforum, hopefully this works.

Thanks

The main problem with cross-posting is - you get the answer in one of the forums and you are happy. Nobody looking at the other forums knows that you already have a solution and many people may try to help and work on your issue not knowing about your solution. Plus, it will benefit other people from other forums to know your solution and where to find it.

Have fun.

Andrzejek,

But my question is completely new and different with the one I verified the answer. I think problem is that I should used different topic for my new question.

SkipVought,

I posted the links on VBforum, I hope it works.

Since your question relates to VBA, please post new questions here in Forum707,

This forum, Forum68, is for non macro/VBA questions related to Word, Excel, etc.

I have a solution for your car name replace question. I assume that this is what you're referring to.
