I am doing a change on the network this evening. I know that I should be able to do the changes and see them in the running config, then scrap them if I don't like it.

Could someone please tell me the syntax. Something like [copy start run], right?

thanks,
David

To save the running config you'd do a 'save config', or if you want to save the running config to a backup location you'd do something like 'save config file /pcmcia/filename'.

As long as you haven't done a 'save config' you can just reboot with the original configuration using the 'reset' command.

To choose what configuration file is used on boot-up you'd use the 'config bootconfig choice primary config-file filename' command, then a 'save bootconfig'. The initial setup information like configuration files and software image selection is saved in the boot.cfg file by default.

Thanks! Wouldn't want to reboot the whole box though. The whole network is on it. Just added two trunks and it went ok. I'd still be interested in a way to go back to the config before I made changes to the running config. In PP2000 and PP7000 it's copy prov. But that's a different CLI.

cheers,
david

To get back to the original config, just delete the trunks you added. Its just as dynamic deleting config as it is adding.
