We have high availability MSS with (2) MAS'. Our MSS keeps failing with:

VM SOFTWARE 323 0 MAJ Y 11/30/07 14:03 11/30/07 14:12 RESTRT
VM SOFTWARE 0 7722 MAJ Y 11/30/07 14:04 11/30/07 14:12 RESTRT

Does anyone know what this might indicate?

Also, when the MAS answers (when the MSS is offline), how do we retrieve messages during this period?

Thanks,
CJH

You need to have the offline store enabled and then the subscribers have access to offline messages enabled in the VMSC under messaging

I am not familiar with the alarm that you are receiving have you tried a reboot on the MSS ?

How do we go about enabling the offline store?

I'm not at the office right now,but will check tomorrow. Also, we rebooted the MSS and things came back normally...

But we're not confident in the stability.

You need to have a shared folder on a server. It can be on one of the MAS's but i would put it somewhere else. Then in the VMSC you enable synchronize offline messages with remote store and point it to the shared folder.

You should then enable offline access to messages and allow subscribers to access messages using the TUI.

This is all under the messaging in the VMD

If we have multiple MAS' can we just "Enable offline access to messages" and "Allow subscribers to acess messages using the TUI" on each MAS?

Not sure if we want to use a 'remote store'. What are the benefits?

Is it true though, that the MWI will not function with offline store? Will this be turned on when the MSS comes back on-line or do we need to update the MWI when MSS comes online?

Thanks,
CJH

The MWI will not work in offline mode.

If you have more than one MAS you must specify where to save the messages as you do not know what MAS the caller will hit. When you turn the offline on you must do it under the VMD and not per MAS.

98 converter, my MAS set up with a MSS back end was acting strangly just receintly. I checked support.avaya.com and found multiple updates including a SP3 that were not on my machines. I had to update the windows side of the servers first with my Microsoft updates then downloaded and applied all the patches I was missing from Avaya. It was a long process but resolved all my issues including the follow me that just quit working.
Hope this helps.
