Hi all,

Due to some Jukebox problem our support engineer came here and deleted the Legato totally (he was not good in legato was known later only!). Then he was not able to restore the same using scanner -B.

Since there was no other option, I restored my one month earlier system backup to get atleast some data and continue to use the Legato.

Is there any way to get the data in tapes, where the backup was taken after taking that system backup?. Because now the index is having the details upto that sytem backup date only.

And anybody is able to use the consolidation successfully?
My legato version is 6.1.

Hi,

1.If you can guess what is the latest volume where the full index + bootstrap backup was done - then load this volume and scann it in using "scanner -B" to get the bootstrap file number and SSID.
Then run "mmrecov" using the above info.

2. If this does not work - you'll end up scanning all you important volumes one by one using "scanner -i". "Long live king Moshiach !"

Hi,

I have one "Default" tape where all the bootstrap info is loaded (as per the support engineer). So I am not able to get any info when I run scanner -B in other volumes.

Is default tape is must? or can i have all the bootstrap info should be written on each and every volume at time of backing up instead? JSiva here...

Hi

Actually no where in my group and pool configuration I mentioned not to write the bootstrap into the same tape.

But default it is writing the bootstrap info into the Default tape only.

Using this you can use scanner -B (i added /nsr also in my daily backup schedule) for disaster recovery.

Anyway for the above mentioned problem, I got the reply from Legato.

All you need to do is, if you have the tape where the backup is taken, but the index is there and even legato does not have the info about this tape...do the following

1. Put the tape into the drive say /dev/rmt0.1
2. scanner /dev/rmt0.1
It will give you all SSID's wanted .

Or if you wanted to include this tapes info on your current index databse do the following

#scanner -i /dev/rmt0.1 JSiva here...
