Everytime I go into Query Design New I have to pull down the split which by default is about one inch from the top of the screen. When Access came out were VDUs 2 inches deep? How can I tell Access to adopt a more reasonable layout?
If I understood your problem corectly. The size of the window in Design view is the same as size when actually displayed, it just has all of the "extra tool stuff" to display. After designing your screen, view it in real mode and save it. You may have to scroll when you go back in to modify it, but this is Access way of sizing... Terry M. Hoey
When you go into design view for a new query you are given a default layout of the screen. The upper part is a display of the tables or recordsets selected. The lower part is the Query-by-Example grid. The default is mindless - no space for your tables and an ocean of empty space below the grid. So you have to pull the split bar to correct this.
If you save the query I think it retains this new layout for when you come back to do further design. However if you open another new query you get the default again.
As we speak approx 27000 of our fellow Access programmers must be pulling down the split. Well 26999 because I'm writing this... mike.stephens@bnpparibas.com
