Hello,
I am trying to do an FTP from one server to another. Is there a way to retain the date from the source server to the new server? When I do an mget or mput, and I look at the transferred files in the target server, the time stamp is the time that I FTP'd the file.

Thanks,

not that I know of;
this is from 'man ftp':
Although the protocol provides a lot of flexibility for transferring data,
it does not attempt to preserve file attributes that are specific to a par-
ticular file system (for example, the protection mode or modification times
of a file).
You may consider other ways of transmission like rcp or scp; those have a switch -p.
hope this helps

Or transfer a tarball.

Hope This Helps, PH.

What if you zipped the files first? Would the file attributes be preserved withing the zip file?

If that doesn't work what if you mapped a network drive to both servers and dragged and dropped the files in Windows explorer.

Not sure but maybe some other options.
