I have callers accessing mailboxes and entering "*" and getting to other users and the attendant. I want to eliminate this capability and keep/ restrict callers to the initial mailbax only. I have been able to eliminate callers ability to dial 0-9 and if they do the callers are redirected to the beginning of the greeting by adjusting the Att. Schedule. Can this be done (restricting "*" and "#")?

Please tell us what type of OCTEL VM you have installed.
(OCTEL 200/300, VMX-100 or OCTEL 250/350 etc).

In ECP mailboxes you can tell the menu to ignore the * key so it will not do anything. See below.
Are you mainly talking about outside callers or ones that are entering their mailbox and then getting out to enter a differant mailbox?

A caller may exit this mailbox and be asked to enter another mailbox as a sub-
scriber by pressing "#". Enter "0" to allow this. Enter "1" to prohibit it.

This mailbox is used by outside callers. They are requesting test scores and certificates for an online course. This dept. is understaffed and overworked. In an attempt to reach a "live" person, callers are pressing any number of keys in an attempt to reach this "live" person.

As you see you can't define the * key in a type 0 mailbox. You may want to use a type 1 or 2 so the caller can reply to a sender and then the system drops them.
