Hello,

I have removed the tick from the "Always ask" box when I download a file from the internet which allowed me to chose if I want to download or open it and now it always opens it without asking. How can I restore this setting?

It's based on the file type. Open Windows Explorer, Tools, Folder Options, File Types tab. Scroll down & select the filetype whos behavior you want to change and click the Advanced button. Place a check in 'Confirm Open After Download'.

Hi samh,

It is already ticked (I want to change it for excel) but it still opens the file without asking me first...

Hi samh,

My mistake, the add-in wasn't tick (it uses the add-in in a browser).
Thanks a lot for your help!

If you want to be prompted for a download location for the file type, follow these steps:

1. Double-click My Computer .
2. On the View menu, click Folder Options .
3. On the File Types tab, click the appropriate file type in the Registered File Types box.
4. Click Edit .
5. Click to select the Confirm Open After Download check box.
6. Click OK , and then click OK.
