How to restore from tape drive on Octel VM 2500 w/tapedrive

I have a Octel Voicemail 2500 with a tape drive that I backup everything including the messages of a user.

I need to go and restore a users message but cannot seem to find a restore selection to restore from.

How would I go about doing a restore?

Are you saying you need to restore the entire system from a disk failure or are you trying to just restore some messages for a single user? If you are trying to restore the entire system you usually need to use the Offline System Backup and Restore utility.

I don't believe there is a way to restore messages for a single user. I thought that the intent of the System Backup to tape was just for catastrophic disk failures.

There is no way to do an individual restore. the restore option is all or nothing on the Aria system. If you need the message that bad we offer a service where you send us the tape and then we restore it to our lab system and then we can network the message to the mailbox or we can use EVM or visual messenger to cinvert it to a Wave file and email it to you.

Bottom line is you can't restore just one message or one mailbox it is the whole system.

since there is no more Octel and Avaya has ended R&D you will not see anything new on that product line. Avaya is touting thier MM (Modular Messeging) and any new features would be developed there.
