File was backed up using cpio, I would like to restore a file. I know the directory path Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks
Haven't used it for a long time. But go back to basics. man cpio. that should give you enough to do it.
Ed Fair
efair@atlnet.com

Any advice I give is my best judgement based on my interpretation of the facts you supply.
The documentation was excellant reading. when I tried the backup, it took forever to read the file and never did anything. nothing to me indicated that it restored the file in question. I must be doing something wrong.. Any suggestions.

Kathyc

Based on my mistakes (great way to learn) I generally assume that the problem will be in the naming/pathing of the file you want to restore.
Do you know what the command was to do the backup? What is the name/path of the file you want back out?

Ed Fair
efair@atlnet.com

Any advice I give is my best judgement based on my interpretation of the facts you supply.
