Guys

I do have a VIO server which is bein installed with SDDPCM for suppoting IBM DS5100..

Now i want to remove it from VIO server as i now know that SDDPCM is not supported on VIO servers with DS50000. Can anybody guide me how should i do that...
By the way , what is the output of manage_disk_drivers command in case SDDPCM is being used? because on example of this command it shows only mpio and RDAC as valid options , but in case of SDDPCM or native AIX mpio it could only be mpio ? am i right in this understanding?

Pls guide!!!

Off hand:

Well, SDDPCM is just a fileset, so that's easily removed. You'll need root authority, but you can get that with oem_set_env from padmin account.

But you'll have to remove all devices first (hdisks, VTSCSI devices, possibly also some volume groups and so on, you may need to shutdown the client lpars also). So you'll need a lot of documentation BEFORE YOU DO ANYTHING to your current setup in order to rebuild your VTSCSI environment!

Then after rebooting the VIOS, you'll find your disks as AIXPCM MPIO disks, but they may have been discovered with different numbers, so make sure you use the correct LUNs for the correct VTSCSI devices.

Hi p5wizard,

I did it through manage_disk_drivers command which is not very known but seems very powerful,

It was earlier showing on VIO that present driver for DS5100 is SDDPCM, i switched it to AIXAPPM ( AIX native MPIO); after restart disk types remained same , but present driver switched to AIX MPIO.No hdisks deletion.I did not remove SDDPCM software itself from VIO, but i dont think that presence of any software on VIO makes any difference unless it is being used for multipathing purpose

Hope that the above procedure served the purpose, what do u think?

I'm not sure. I would think manage_disk_drivers just modifies the config methods for certain types of disks. If you say that no disk was removed and discovered again, then AIX still uses the same driver for the existing disks. The config method would then be used for newly discovered disks.

What does lsdev -Ccdisk show?
present a new LUN to the VIOS and discover that disk, what does it show in lsdev -Ccdisk for that new disk?

Does pcmpath query device still show the DS5k disks?
