how to remove mod_perl module?

I have installed mod_perl-1.27 on linux server, now I want to use mod_perl-1.99.08, but get error message "mod_perl/1.27 installation detected" when I configure mod_perl-1.99.08, how can I remove the previous mod_perl from linux server?
