Hi guys
I've a problem with reinstalling windows XP. windows98 startup disk cannot run setup.exe because my harddrive NTFS and the startup disk FAT 32. Any suggestions how I can sort this out? thanks
Why are you using a Win98 boot floppy when XP is self-booting?? Just start your system with the XP cd in the cd-rom drive (make sure BIOS is set to use the cd-rom as the first boot device) and follow the prompts from there..
Of course, if you are using a pirated copy of XP this won't work and you won't get any help from anyone in here !!

FWIW and FYI...
When using XP fdisk........There is an problem creating Partitions larger than 32GB with FAT32..
I've seen MS articles say to use Win98 Startup floppy/CD fdisk version to create larger partitions using FAT32, than 32GB ......
BUT only to create the partition and "Maybe"?...Format also...that's it.
just wanted to share..

Why on earth do you think I addressed it to you.....
I realize the situation the author is in......I thought I'd fill you in on a little known quirk(atleast I didn't know) with the XP install CD, and Fat32.....Especially for those who are trying to install a win98 loaded second HDD as a slave and formatting it....
Hey dude...
Maybe next time, I won't be so nice

First of all, when I see my name in bold at the top of a post, I "rightfully" assume it is being addressed to me so, so much for your "Why on earth do you think I addressed it to you..." statement..
I can see where you are coming from NOW that you have clearly explained your intention, however, that answer will nowhere near fix the problem as posted..
Guys you can delete unknown partition from W98 fdisk...
And create new fat32.
The fat32 can be converted to ntfs later if that's wanted.
(convert c: /fs:ntfs )
