Can anyboby help me how to refresh the data in the CUBE in MS SQL SERVER 2000 once the Fact Table is getting updated ?? I am using MS-Excel 2000 as the front end.

I have tried the same by changing the data in the FACT table. It needs to process the CUBE. After this only I can visualise the changes in Excel.

I have also tried the same by changing the data in DIMENSION tables. It need to process the Dimensions. After this only I can visualise the changes in Excel.

Is it so?? Can it be automated?? Is there any option available?

Needs a solution at the earliest.

Thanks in advance.

Yes, there is a way to automate the process but its not in OLAP, its in SQL and i'm not sure it can be done in SQL 7 only SQL 2000

but here's how to do it

go to enterprise manager and under Data Transformation Services create a new local package.

Select Analysis Services from the Task list and choose a cube from the left pane and what u want done to it from the right pane

when done click, OK, then execute (green arrow)
close and save the package
from the list of packages, right click the package u would like automated and click "schedule"

and then choose how often u want it to run

It can be done in SQL 7 too...(may be SP3 requred both in SQL and in OLAP) Issahar
