How to reference non DB items just like in Forms?!

Hi,

I have created a field in my report header in which I had in mind to fetch some values into. In a trigger I have created nessesary code to retrieve the values, but I do not know how to assign the value to the field. In Forms you just add : before any reference to a field. But when i try to do the same in Report I get error that bind variable is not define. I understand that but I dont know how and if it is possible to do this...but I really need to.
Please anyone, I assume it has a very simple solution that I am not aware of

You may create parameters and then specify them as datasources for your items. You may also add formula fields to data model. Regards, Dima
